The MTU Telecommunications Department
(Telcom) is a subset of the University's Information Technology
group. Telcom is responsible for providing voice,
data, video services, infrastructure for
all administrative
& academic departments and residential housing areas.
These services are purchased or leased and include data
network connections, telephone services, audio conferencing,
pagers, cellphones, voicemail, auto-attendant services,
cable TV, and many others.
Michigan Tech is an Internet
2 school and participates in many corporate partnerships
to investigate and deploy new technologies such as thin-client
devices, IP telephony, and middleware services.
