Campus Dial-In Service - Discontinued July 1, 2007

Merit Network, Inc., in conjunction with all its university members, supports MichNet, which is a dial-in service across the state of Michigan (and a few other locations in the country) where members of the Merit Network may dial in using a local phone number and gain network access to any Merit institution.

Currently, MTU makes a yearly contribution to support 16 dedicated lines for MTU staff and faculty use. Access to these lines requires an email address and ISO password.

Merit 800 - Discontinued July 1, 2007

Merit 800 is a for-fee 800 service that is provided by Merit Networks. This national dial-in service provides access from all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Access procedures are identical to those used for connecting to any MichNet Network Access Server (NAS).

GlobalNet - Discontinued July 1, 2007

GlobalNet is a national and international Internet dial-in service that is provided by Merit Networks, Inc. Internet access is available to MTU staff and faculty and is billed via a university account.

GlobalNet Service provides users with the ability to dial-in to the Internet from approximately 1,000 U.S. and international locations.

UP.Net

Telecommunications Services, in partnership with Baraga Telephone (up.net), offers unlimited-access dial-in service to connect to the university network from off campus. Hosts dialing in via this service are assigned an mtu.edu hostname.

Pasty.Net

Pasty.NET is a leading regional provider of innovative bandwidth solutions and creative web hosting. The explosive growth of its flagship "Pasty Central" project created the need for dependable, locally supported Internet service, thus giving birth to Pasty.NET.
