Multi-Host is a 'shared' network service that allows multiple network hosts to be connected through a hub/switch to a single jack. There are two variants of this service: Standard Multi-Host which supports up to four network hosts connected to a 100Mbps network connection, and Personal Multi-Host which supports two network hosts connected to a 10Mbps network connection.

Private Bridge Group Connections are MTUNet Direct Connections that belong to a private LAN group. As such, the service enables users to maintain a private network on the common campus network infrastructure. All of the speed settings that apply to Direct Connections also apply to
Private Bridge (or Private VLAN) connections: 10H, 10F, 100F, Auto.

When no public access to a network is desired, a private bridge is a perfect solution as in the case of research equipment that only needs to communicate with a network server for data acquisition. Because the service utilizes industry standard 8021Q VLAN tags, it allows multiple networks to be delivered on the same campus network equipment. As such, it is also an ideal solution for networked alarm circuits, point-of-sale equipment, networked surveillance cameras, robot control systems, or other isolated applications.

The Lab Tools Network Service enables MTUNet Direct Connections to be added to a Lab Access Group, which allows lab supervisors or teaching staff to use a web tool to restrict or enable network access to/from the lab machines. This tool allows departments to set up lab machines that do not require user login, but allow MTU staff to supervise access to the MTU network and the Internet.
