Connecting to the MichiganTech WPA2 Secured Wireless Network
The Rovernet Enterprise Solution gives students, staff, and faculty greater flexibility and security when accessing the campus wireless network. The “MichiganTech” SSID is only accessible via WPA2 (PEAP) authentication. Once authenticated, the traffic is encrypted. To obtain access to this encrypted network, wireless clients will be required to configure their devices for WPA2 authentication.
Configuring your wireless device to use WPA2 takes a few minutes. You will, however, need to meet the following system requirements in order to connect to the MichiganTech WPA2 Secured Wireless Network.
System Configuration Requirements
- Be within the "MichiganTech" SSID wireless coverage area.
- Be a current Michigan Tech student, faculty, or staff member.
- Have a computer or mobile device with a network-compatible wireless card, operating system, and drivers to support WPA2.
- Have a valid ISO User Name and Password.
Configuration Settings
- Security Type: IEEE 802.1x Authentication
- SSID: MichiganTech
- Network Authentication: WPA2
- Data Encryption: AES
- EAP type: Protected EAP (PEAP)
- Authentication Method: Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2 )
- Credentials: ISO Username and Password
- Trust Root Certification Authority: GlobalSign Root CA
- Certificate Issued to: www.login.mtu.edu
Note: The Network Authentication and Data Encryption settings are determined by the hardware in your machine and by how up-to-date your operating system is. If your system is not able to authenticate using WPA2-AES, then try WPA-AES.
