About MTU's Video Network

Michigan Tech owns and operates a Multichannel Video Programming Distribution (MVPD) system known as MTU Cable. The system is registered with the Federal Communications Commission, and assigned NCID: MIA060.

The system delivers broadcast, movie, information, international, sports, music, and entertainment channels throughout the campus residential community. The system consists of satellite receivers, cable television modulators, and an extensive distribution network. Basic cable service is provided to over 1300 locations on campus with many subscribing to the premium movie channels.

Michigan Tech also owns and operates a private two-way video network know as Campus Wideband. The network is used for the distribution of video conferencing and distance learning content. As a result of interconnection to all campus video conferencing and television studios, the system has multiple active channels.
